Great post! I've only ever been able to get my synopsis down to two pages, so this challenges me to become more concise. We don't include subplots, correct?

Thanks Jordan! For a one-page synopsis, yeah - I wouldn't try to include subplots, unless it's maybe one line (for example, about a romance developing between the lead and another character).

You seriously need to write that Jack Vs. The Aliens story, Michelle! It always reminds me of an "Are You Afraid of the Dark" episode, "The Tale of the Thirteenth Floor". Should you ever decide to write this story, you already have a great reference to start with :)

OMG, I’ve just worked through your prompts and advice and I now have a synopsis that just might work!!!

I so appreciate your example. Most advice leaves me wondering how much and which details to include, how much plot and how much character? Your advice helped me hone in on the juicy spoilers and create a combination of plot and character that tells a story and conveys emotion. (At least I think it does!)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Thank you! I'm struggling (read: procrastinating on writing) a synopsis, and this gives me a clear roadmap for filling in the blanks in my blurb. I've saved this for future reference, too.

This might help me. I'm trying to do an out for my novel now.

So helpful! I’ve been wondering if I have to write the entire story before I find a publisher, or I can have a few chapters completed and a sketch of the novel and send that off to a publisher or editor. This is all very new to me
